Dmitry Savochkin is a partner at TRUBOR Law Firm. Before he joined TRUBOR, Dmitry worked for renowned Russian and international law firms and successfully acted for major Russian and foreign companies in complex property and corporate disputes in Russian courts and international commercial arbitrations.

Dmitry’s experience includes complex judicial defense of business against attempted raids, representation of investors in disputes to take / retain control over a business, full legal support to bankruptcies (including defense against controlled bankruptcy and asset stripping, subsidiary liability for controlling persons), coordination of litigations in Russia and abroad as part of a concerted client defense strategy.

Dmitry specializes in internal dispute resolution, international commercial arbitration, conflict of laws, jurisdictional disputes, enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards, bankruptcy proceedings and construction disputes.

Dmitry has on many occasions participated in preparing legal opinions on Russian law in high-profile international disputes, inter alia in England, Germany, Italy, France and Sqitzerland.

Representation before arbitration and general jurisdiction courts of an investment arm of a major Russian bank in a conflict to obtain and secure control over a holding of Russian plants (corporate and general law disputes, representation of the new CEO’s interests in employment disputes, elaboration of, support to and implementation of the operation to ensure the actual transfer of powers to the new CEO and to establish effective control over the plants, launching of the legal department of the key plant and legal support to its business, challenging of asset stripping transactions undertaken by its ex-management company and affiliates, controlled bankruptcy of two plants, legal support to enforcement proceedings against shareholders and their plants).

Amicable settlement agreement signed on the client’s terms.

Representation in courts (International Arbitration Court of ICC in Paris, ICAC of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Trade, state arbitration and general jurisdiction courts of various regions) of a foreign investor of a major company and of the target asset in a conflict to obtain and secure control over the target asset.

Representation before arbitration and general jurisdiction courts of a foreign bank in a conflict with Russian borrowers (defending the validity of credit agreements, recovery of debt, defending of a set of securing transactions, launching of the borrowers’ bankruptcy). Amicable settlement agreement signed on the client’s terms.

Representation of a sub-contractor in a conflict with the contractor over construction of a power station and a high voltage line (putting together a body of evidence “on a cumulative basis” in the absence of documentary support to almost 50% of work, successful debt recovery, bankruptcy of the contractor). Efforts to strip assets through a controlled claim uncovered and thwarted.
